US Airstrikes in Yemen Leave 31 Dead

At least 31 people died and more than a hundred were injured in the airstrikes launched by the United States against Houthi rebel forces in various cities of the Arab country. According to the Health Ministry of the insurgents, most of the victims are children and women.

The spokesman for the Houthi Health Ministry, Anees al Asbahi, indicated that this is a preliminary count and warned that the number of dead could rise due to the serious condition of several injured. The attacks focused on residential areas of Sana'a, the capital, as well as other cities in central and northern Yemen, including Saada, the hometown of the rebel leader, Abdelmalek al Houthi.

In the Qahza district, in northern Saada, at least ten people lost their lives, including four children and one woman, while another thirteen were injured. The Houthis, supported by Iran, faced the attacks ordered by U.S. President Donald Trump, who sought to end the military actions of Yemeni rebels and their threat to international shipping.

In response, the insurgents announced that the U.S. actions would not go unanswered and reaffirmed their commitment to Palestine and Gaza. U.S. military air operations in Yemen come shortly after the Houthis threatened to resume their attacks on Israeli ships if Israel did not lift the blockade on Gaza.

The insurgent movement, supported by Iran, has carried out numerous attacks against Israel and commercial shipping in the Red and Arabian Seas since the outbreak of war in Gaza in October 2023 in response to the violence between Palestinians and Israel.
