More than 180 people went missing without a trace after four boats with migrants sank off the coast of Yemen and Djibouti. This was reported by the International Organization for Migration on Friday.
The organization noted that one boat, carrying more than 200 passengers, was heading towards the coast of Djibouti on Thursday when it sank. At the time of the disaster, some managed to reach the shore, but many people remained missing.
Meanwhile, the remaining three boats capsized off the coast of Yemen. Rescuers have already found nine survivors and several bodies along the shores of Yemen, but many are still considered missing. The largest number of casualties has been recorded among migrants from Ethiopia and Somalia. The region of Yemen and Djibouti is popular among refugees seeking to improve their living conditions due to conflicts and poverty in their countries.
