The group of rebels, Houthi, liberated 25 crew members of the ship 'Galaxy Leader', Yemeni sources reported. According to the Yemeni company-owner of the ship, among the liberated are citizens of Bulgaria, the Philippines, Romania, Ukraine, and Mexico.

The crew was captured in the Red Sea in November 2023. The militants held them until a ceasefire was announced in the Gaza sector. The International Red Cross received permission to visit the detainees in May.

The statement confirms that the ship was captured by Houthi, and the captain was allowed to contact the outside world only a few times to relay information about their condition.
