Representatives of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) launched a winter aid campaign covering 250,000 people worldwide aimed at alleviating the effects of the cold weather, especially in countries hosting refugees. The campaign includes the distribution of larger batches of food supplies and hygiene kits, winter clothing, heating appliances, blankets, children's goods, and other life essential items.
On December 22, ERC conducted a campaign to distribute winter clothing in remote desert areas of Shabwa in Yemen, providing clothing and winter necessities to needy families and refugees. On January 8, ERC announced preparations for sending a new batch of humanitarian aid to Gaza, including winter clothing, within the framework of Operation Verney Ritsar 3.
In Albania, ERC distributed winter assistance through its representation among 2,415 beneficiaries in several provinces. The assistance included heating stoves and blankets to help families affected by the severe temperatures and extreme cold. The campaign also provided winter assistance for victims of frost and snowstorms in Kazakhstan, where humanitarian aid was delivered to 7,500 beneficiaries in several regions.
The Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Foundation launched its winter initiative, increasing the number of beneficiaries to 50,000 compared to 20,000 last winter. This year’s initiative covers 19 countries, including Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Iraq, Syria, Gaza, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Russia, and others.
Within the framework of the winter initiative, blankets, clothing, and other necessities for protecting people from harsh cold and reducing the spread of winter ailments, especially in children, are included.
The Dubai Charity Association launched a campaign "Sogreyte this winter with their resources" to combat the risks of winter 2024-2025 in several Asian, African, and European countries, coordinating its actions with local representatives.
The campaign focuses on providing essential life-saving items like blankets, winter clothing, heaters, water heaters, heating nets for mosques, and necessities for shelters to protect people from the cold and mitigate the spread of winter ailments.
The Sharjah Charity Association, with the support of the Dubai Islamic Bank as a humanitarian partner, began the "Dathironi" campaign in Черногории and Боснии and Герцеговине. The campaign is directed at protecting more than 7,000 beneficiaries in these countries from frost through the distribution of heavy clothing, blankets, and various items for heating to safeguard them from the severe cold.
The ERC continues its efforts to mitigate the consequences of severe winter conditions for larger groups of people worldwide, especially those forced to leave their homes and seek shelter in tents due to displacement. Since the beginning of winter, the ERC has launched several humanitarian and assistance campaigns to provide essential items to those affected by extreme cold temperatures in many countries, focusing on the core humanitarian values of leadership and the people of ERC.
Operation Verney Ritsar 3 conducted a campaign two days ago to distribute winter clothing for residents of shelters in southern Gaza as part of the largest phase of Operation Verney Ritsar 3, the biggest initiative of aid provided in Gaza.
The campaign reached the largest group of forced refugees in southern Gaza, around the Al-Aksa University in Khan-Yunis, supporting 12,500 people. Since the beginning of this winter, ERC has provided winter clothing, tents, jackets, blankets, sweaters, and other items for the assistance of Palestinian children and families affected by the situation in Gaza.
